We have watched the events since the illegal death of George Floyd with sadness and heartbreak. The lack of progress that we as a country have made on racial justice and race relations is inexcusable. We can and we must do better not just in the future but now.
As our Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley so aptly said: “Change Can’t Wait!” We will work with you to elect diverse representatives and leaders and to support legislation to make actual changes. Never again, shall we have two different Americas separated by the color of one’s skin.
“No matter how big a nation is, it is no stronger than its weakest people, and as long as you keep a person down, some part of you has to be down there to hold him down, so it means you cannot soar as you might otherwise.” Marian Anderson. We will soar with you and with your leadership for: “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Martin Luther King. Diversity enriches all of us. It is the very fabric of this great nation. It is way past time for all of us to appreciate it.
